Artist Bio

Kasia Kaznocha was born in 1978 in Poland and grew up in the city of Bielsko-Biała. She earned her Master of Arts degree from the Department of Graphic Design at Silesian University in Cieszyn, where she also studied studio art under Professor Artur Straczewski.

While working as a graphic designer, Kasia continued to pursue her equestrian passion, and it was during this time that she discovered her deep love for painting horses. In 2012, she moved to Los Angeles, California, and today she lives and works in Thousand Oaks with her husband and children.

Kasia’s artwork brings together her two lifelong passions: art and horses. She primarily paints horses on canvas using acrylics, often enhancing her work with gold and silver leaf to create a unique sense of depth and movement. Horses have always been central to her life—not only as subjects in her art but also as part of her daily experience. She has been riding since childhood, earned her horse-riding instructor certificate in 2008, and specializes in dressage and jumping. She has worked with several well-known stables and owns a horse named Enigma, who frequently appears in her paintings.

Her art is best described as realism infused with symbolism—a blend inspired by spirituality, imagination, and dreams. It is also recognized within the genre of contemporary Western art. Kasia’s works are held in private collections across the United States and Europe.

She is a member of the California Art Club and the Cowgirl Artists of America. Her awards include First Place at the Equus Film and Art Fest in New York City and recognition from the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento. Kasia has been featured in Western Art Collector Magazine, Art of the West, Santa Ynez Valley Star, and the Santa Barbara News-Press.

Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries such as Beyond the Line Gallery, realART Gallery, Linus Gallery, Slopoke Fine Art Gallery, and Solvang Fine Art Gallery. She has also participated in major national art events, including the LA Art Show, Slopoke Fine Art of the West in Solvang, the Beverly Hills Art Show, the Calabasas Art Show, realART Gallery’s Spring Juried Show, and “Horses Break Free” presented by Beyond the Line Gallery.

Artist Statement:

"I always had two passions: one is horse-riding which gives me a great pleasure and satisfaction, and the second is all kinds of artistic activities.  Horses are a  constant source of inspiration.  Therefore, they naturally became the main subject of my work. But just as horses have naturally been my inspiration because I have been riding horses since I was a child, I never wanted my paintings to be only representations of animals.

That's why horses on my paintings never have bridles on saddles.

They are an excuse to show emotions.

I want the story to be read in different ways depending on the recipient.

I think that artists sometimes are like seismographs of emotions, feelings and experiences and then translate it into the language of art. But everyone can relate to art and its reception, because there is no single answer in art. For me, art has two moments of existence and creation. Once when it is created by the artist, and the cecond time when it begins to exist in the consciousness of the recipient.

Then art is born a second time, and constantly different each time. I find it fascinating, beautigul and extremely inspiring and very thought-provoking. I love when my paintings reach the public, the recipient, regardless of whether it happens in an art gallery or a private apartment.

I discover horses all the time and constantly trying to capture their beauty. Each horse is different, just as every human being carries a different story and emotions. I try to capture their emotions hoping that one can recognize a piece of story, a piece of soul, a piece of  heart through my paintings. That’s why my  images depict not only the silhouettes of horses but also a large amound of emotions. In the images we see not only horses, but also sadness, pride, peace, joy, love. Very important to me is that emotional message felt in my paintings allows for anyone to explore something new every day.

There are paintings of horses which are nothing more than their image, but for me it is very important  to introduce  horses personality and spirit. My goal is to master the technique that would allow  to  show  the  entire  esence  of  these  unusual animals wich are horses, techniques that perfectly show the beauty of the horse, will allow me to convey feelings and emotions."
