Artist Bio

Kasia Kaznocha develops a body of work that moves between realism and a quiet, psychological interiority, constructing a visual language for experiences that resist direct articulation. Born in Poland and raised in Bielsko-Biała, she approaches painting as a space where emotion takes form through image rather than explanation.

Animals recur throughout her work—not as subjects in the traditional sense, but as carriers of tension, perception, and emotional states. They function as intermediaries, allowing for a subtle negotiation between instinct and consciousness, presence and withdrawal. Through them, Kaznocha builds a narrative that reflects on the human condition without depicting it explicitly.

Her paintings are defined by a meticulous attention to detail and a sensitivity to light that creates a suspended, almost breath-held atmosphere. Within these spaces, strength and vulnerability coexist, often held in delicate balance. Layered surfaces and the use of metallic elements introduce shifts in depth and perception, where illumination becomes both material and metaphor.

The process itself plays a central role in her practice. Each work evolves through accumulation and refinement, where precision is used not for control, but for revealing something intangible—an emotional residue that emerges gradually through the act of painting.

While grounded in technical realism, Kaznocha’s work leans toward a form of magical realism, where the familiar becomes slightly estranged, opening space for introspection. Her paintings invite a slower mode of looking, drawing attention to nuances that might otherwise remain unseen.

Her work has been recognized within the contemporary Western art scene and is held in private collections across the United States and Europe. She is a member of the California Art Club and Cowgirl Artists of America, with exhibitions including the LA Art Show and Beverly Hills Art Show, and features in publications such as Western Art Collector, Art of the West, and the Santa Barbara News-Press.

Artist Statement :

My paintings are an attempt to formulate a language capable of expressing experiences and emotional states that elude direct description. The animals I depict are not merely forms or subjects — they serve as a conceptual tool for exploring the boundaries between the visible and the ineffable, enabling the materialization of subtle psychic and emotional tensions. Initially, they functioned as a form of shelter — a space in which I could experiment with expression without the pressure of judgment. Over time, I discovered that they also constitute a bridge to universal honesty, allowing me to communicate vulnerability, fears, and desires in a symbolic, multilayered, and universally resonant way.

In my work, animals operate as a medium through which emotional and psychological structures manifest — moments of tension, strength, and sensitivity that are inherent to the human condition. The paintings balance control and exposure, order and unpredictability, examining the relationship between what is hidden and what is revealed. This is a process of reflection on the mechanisms of self-censorship and the possibility of trusting one’s own perception and inner truth.

The starting point of my practice is the tension between the need for control and the desire for freedom — between what is concealed and what is revealed. Animals become both a mask and a bridge; they create a space for dialogue between my inner world and the viewer, inviting engagement in a suspended space where light and shadow, strength and vulnerability, presence and withdrawal compose a narrative of the human condition, not directly, but through symbolism and emotional resonance.

I paint animals because they are more than a subject — they are my language. Through them, I can explore and articulate that which lies beyond words, remaining fully faithful to both the intellectual and emotional authenticity of my practice
